From lost to empowered — families becoming who they were always meant to be.
In East Africa, countless families struggle each day under the weight of poverty and despair. Widows and single parents work tirelessly to provide for their children with little support. Those with mental health and special needs are often forgotten and cast aside. Children and youth face barriers to education, health care, and opportunity. The lack of resources and access traps families in a cycle of hardship that can feel impossible to break.In 2022, God orchestrated a divine meeting between a group of people from East Africa and the US at Uganda Christian University. Though they came from different worlds, they shared the same calling — to bring restoration and hope to families through faith, education, and empowerment. From that encounter, Tikvah International was born. “Tikvah,” meaning hope, became more than a name; it became a mission.
Grounded in faith and driven by compassion, Tikvah International works hand in hand with communities across East Africa to help families rise from poverty and rediscover hope. The organization takes a holistic approach — equipping individuals with practical vocational skills, supporting children’s education, providing essential medical care, and partnering with local leaders to build sustainable, community-driven solutions. Every initiative is designed to strengthen families and restore dignity from the inside out.The impact has been life-changing. Families once trapped in despair are now rebuilding their lives. Children are returning to school. Communities are becoming places of opportunity, growth, and renewal. Through every act of service, Tikvah International has witnessed a beautiful truth: when families are empowered, hope flourishes, and entire communities are transformed.
Today, Tikvah International continues to be a trusted partner for families in need across East Africa — a reflection of Christ’s love in action. The organization believes that every person is created with purpose and is worthy of a life filled with hope and possibility.And this story is still being written. Every volunteer, donor, and partner becomes part of the movement to see lives restored and communities renewed. Together, we can help hope rise in East Africa — one family at a time.

We’ve experienced God’s love—and that changes everything. His love moves us to care for others first, to see every person with compassion, and to extend love without discrimination. Psalm 33:22 reminds us: “May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.”
The work we do matters, and how we do it matters even more. That’s why at Tikvah, we strive to be both effective and accountable—committed to doing what’s right, taking responsibility for every outcome, and building trust with those we serve.
